Abstract

This research aims to investigate the factors that influence owners/managers of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) intention to adopt murabahah in Yobe State Nigeria. The research was a descriptive survey design using a questionnaire. A sample of 233 owners/managers of MSMEs was selected using quota sampling. PLS 4.0 was used to analyse the data gathered for the study. The results showed that attitude and perceived behavioural control had positive and a significant effect on MSME owners/managers' intention to adopt murabahah. However, subjective norm had no significant effect on MSME owners/managers' intention to adopt murabahah. The results also showed that awareness moderated the influence between the attitude and MSME owners/managers' intention to adopt murabahah, but did not influence subjective norms, perceived behavioural control and owners/managers' intention to adopt murabahah. The implication is that, even if the individual has the attitude to embrace murabahah, greater awareness is required to increase murabahah adoption in the state and the nation as a whole. Lastly, this research work has made a significant contribution to the TPB theory.
